FACEBOOK LIVE EVENT TITLED, “SAY ‘YES’ TO WOMEN LIBERATION MOVEMENT IN AFRICA, AND ‘NO’ TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT OF WOMEN”

March 11, 2025

Greetings, my people!
This is Harry Agina with an update on a scheduled Afro-Scope live event right here on Facebook, from 7 to 8pm on Thursday the 13th of March,  2025. That’s less than 48 hours away.

It’s a Post- INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY event, titled, “Say ‘Yes’ to Women Empowerment in Africa, and ‘No’ to Sexual Harassment of Women.” This event was inspired by some ANTI-WOMEN activities of Nigeria’s Senate, led by the controversial Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. The gist is that a female senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan alleges that Senate President Akpabio sexually harassed her, with advances for sex. According to Natasha, she turned Akpabio down, and that led to series of victimization actions against Natasha by Akpabio, abusing his official power as the Senate President.

The open sexual harassment allegation against Akpabio by Natasha led to yet another violation of her rights when Akpabio’s undemocratic ethics committee denied her fair hearing and slammed her with a 6-month suspension without pay and official provilages. This is all in violation of a court order by Senate President Akpabio and his senate ethics committee. It is also in violation of a prior court ruling that the leadership of federal and state parliaments have no right to suspend any lawmaker.

MATTERS ARISING:
1) Some RETROGRESSIVE women, including Former Senator Florence Ita-Giwa are against Natasha’s PROGRESSIVE fight against male chauvinism, sexual harassment, and injustice against women in Nigeria.
2) A lot of Nigerians are speaking out against the lawlessness of Senator Akpabio and his leadership. The critics include Human Rights Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana (SAN), and Nigeria Minister of Women Affairs.

  1. Of course, I, Harry Agina, have spoken out against the senate injustice against women because I am proudly a feminist. This scheduled live Facebook event is a follow-up to my vlog against retrogressive women who are against Women Liberation Movement and Affirmative Action for women in Africa. The issues summarized above make up the title and the agenda of the conversation that we invite you to join from 7 to 8pm next Thursday, March 13, 2025.
