NIGERIAN ATIKU ABUBAKAR SHAMELESSLY DEFENDS POLITICIANS AND RULERS ACCUSED OF MASSIVE STEALING WITH THE NONSENSICAL CLAIM THAT PRESIDENT TINUBU IS “WITCH-HUNTING” THEM

March 25, 2026

HIGHLIGHTS: If I said it once, I said it a gazillion times that nobody can “Witch-Hunt” a person who has not committed any crime; and anybody who says that a criminal is being politically witch-hunted is a hypocritical crook.

Greetings!
I am Harry Agina, and this is about my disappointment with a former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Atiku is openly defending, encouraging, and supporting thieves who are stealing Nigeria blind. He is driven by two sectional factors. One is nonsensical politics, and the other is extreme tribalism. Yes indeed, Atiku Abubakar has shown himself in recent time to be a very tribalistic man, and yes, he is in opposition politics against Nigeria’s president and his ruling APC political party.

I cite two Nigerians who are currently trending for huge looting-crime charges as my case study, namely Abubakar Malami and Nasir El-Rufai. Both are Atiku’s Hausa-Fulani kin, and Atiku Abubakar is shamelessly speaking out in their defense, all in the name of tribalism and opposition politics. So, here are my questions: (1) Is the old man called Atiku Abubakar saying that it is okay for anybody to steal Nigeria blind as long as the person is his tribal kin and a member of a party that opposes Tinubu’s ruling political party? (2) Or, is he saying that my two examples, El-Rufai and Malami are innocent of the charges against them for satanical massive looting of public funds??

You know, when I say sometimes that I am often ashamed of being associated with Nigeria as my country, some Nigerians put it in a wrong context and get offended with me. They see me as unpatriotically renouncing my country of origin. The truth is that they may have a point when viewed from their perspective. However, I refuse to see it from their perspective. If you ask me, or even as you ain’t asking me yet, I still tell ya, I’m the one being patriotic with my pronouncement. And I will tell you why, pronto!

I wanno start by making it clear that I am not saying that I am ashamed of my Nigeria and my Nigerian brethren, the masses of Nigeria, no sir, no ma’am! My problem is the minuscule number of Nigerian crooks who are ruling and destroying the country. So, I am ashamed in the global community that they are from my country Nigeria. In a population of over 220 million people, those characters are probably less than twelve thousand in number if I assume that each of the six geopolitical zones with 36 states of Nigeria has less than two thousand of such crooks in power.

A maxim says that “Empty Vessels Make The Most Noise.” So, the evil acts (or “noises”) of those few Nigerian rulers overshadow the greatness of the remaining 220 million Nigerians, thereby presenting Nigeria to the world as a country of crooks. So, yes, I do get ashamed to be associated with that narrative about my country.

Oh, by the way, before I get off my analysis, I do have to mention the only problem that I have with my Nigerian masses. It comes from the question that I often face with my non-Nigerian friends or critics, thus: How come over 220 million Nigerians cannot REVOLT and kick out the tiny number of crooks who are destroying the country with corruption? That’s the way that those non-Nigerian critics express their disappointment with the entire population of Nigeria. They conclude with the adage that “A people deserve the leaders or rulers that they have.” This is topic for another day.

BACK TO TODAY’S MATTER:
My focus today is former Nigerian Vice President called Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. I am very ashamed of him, and ashamed that he is my country man, meeeeeeeen!!! Why? Because at age 79 or thereabouts, the man is totally devoid of integrity. I already stated above grouse with him about Abubakar Malami and Nasir El-Rufai trending looting court cases and his shameful defense of them. Both are being prosecuted by Nigeria crime fighting agencies, accused of stealing massive amounts of public funds during their days in public offices. Abubakar Malami was Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), and Nasir El-Rufai was governor of Kaduna State in northern Nigeria. I pick Nasir El-Rufai as my key focus here because addressing both suspects would draw this discourse too long. Malami’s case has its peculiarities that will make its own long discourse for another day.

Nigerians do know that El-Rufai is EVIDENTLY MOST LIKELY to be guilty as charged. The crooks who rule Nigeria steal with UTMOST IMPUNITY, so their loots are obvious and undeniable. They don’t even bother to hide or cover their tracks because they know that they always escape justice. The corruption that has eaten up the country’s political systems always frees them from justice. All they do is share some of their loots with their fellow crooks in the corrupt law enforcement and justice system, and they are free to enjoy their own shares of the loot, meeeeeeeen!!!

Let’s get back to Atiku Abubakar and his shameless declaration of support to people such as El-Rufai. It’s easy for any critic to see Atiku Abubakar as El-Rufai’s kind, not only for publicly supporting and defending an alleged criminal, but also for the fact that he does have his own gazillion allegations of looting throughout his career in Nigerian public services. It goes back to his position as a Nigeria Customs executive officer in his younger days. Unfortunately, I can’t really call him a criminal because he was never convicted, sadly because 99.999 percent of Nigerian corrupt rulers are never convicted, much thanks to the same systemic corruption that I speak of.

Anyway, I did personally hear Atiku declare on TV, on March 24, 2026, his support to the alleged criminal Abubakar Malami, in his general posture as opposition politician against President Tinubu and his ruling APC political party. His words of defense covered Nasir El-Rufai and all other crime suspects who are in opposition parties against President Bola Tinubu. I see Atiku’s words as “Pledging Allegiance To One’s Own Kind.”

NONSENSICAL “POLITICAL WITCH-HUNT” CLAIM BY NIGERIAN POLITICIANS:
Atiku’s excuse to declare his support to suspects like Nasir El-Rufai is the nonsensical claim that Nigeria President Bola Tinubu is witch-hunting members of opposition political parties to create a one-party system in Nigeria. If I said it once, I said it a gazillion times that nobody can “Witch-Hunt” a person who has not committed any crime, NEVER!!! Nasir El-Rufai is either a criminal, or he is not a criminal. If he was not a criminal, Tinubu would not go after him because he would not manufacture evidence against him. And if El-Rufai is a criminal, it is absolute bullshit for anybody to claim that his court trial is “Political Witch-Hunt.” Again I say, you can never Witch-Hunt a clean person, and you can never clean up a criminal with a HYPOCRITICAL CLAIM OF WITCH-HUNT, meeeeeeeen!!!

Mind you, there is something to consider in the political “Witch-Hunt” claims of Nigerian politicians. The fact is that the country’s corrupt system hardly ever holds the rulers accountable for their heinous crimes. Whenever very few of them get punished for their crimes, it is usually because of a political fallout with superior rulers in power. And yes, Nasir El-Rufai did have a political fallout with President Tinubu and his ruling APC political party. And yes again, the recent arrest of El-Rufai is APPARENTLY connected with his regular badmouthing Tinubu and APC. It’s like the proverbial case of “Living in a glass house and throwing stones at people outside.” The man knows that he has a dirty record, yet he would never keep his foul mouth shut. He was regularly lambasting President Tinubu and his ruling party as if he had some hidden powers over them. So, yes, truth be told, almost every human being in Tinubu’s position of power would be infuriated to shut El-Rufai foul mouth up using his alleged criminal record to do so. Truth be told, I would do so myself if I was in Tinubu’s position. Wise people inside a glass house do not throw stones at people outside, knowing that retaliation from the targets of the stones would shatter the glass house. Obviously, Nasir El-Rufai is not a wise man. And let’s not forget TERRIBLE HYPOCRISY. This is a man who was singing the praises of Tinubu until he was denied ministerial position in his government.

Having said all that, the fact still remains that President Bola Tinubu is not witch-hunting Nasir El-Rufai. He is being prosecuted for a crime that he is alleged to have committed, period! If one doesn’t want to go through the so-called witch-hunting, then one MUST stay away from criminal acts. I would only see witch-hunt if there is no evidence of crime against El-Rufai and Tinubu is cooking up lies against him, meeeeeeeen!!!

Sure, on the one hand, it is only right that President Tinubu’s crime fighting agencies prosecute and imprison all the criminals who have looted Nigeria’s public funds without any political bias or favoritism. The crime fighting must not spare criminal members of his own political party. Indeed, it is UNFORGIVEABLY TERRIBLE when the president’s crime fighting is selective. On the other hand, however, I repeat tbat even if the president is selective in crime fighting, whosoever he selects to prosecute and imprison still has no moral or legal standing to claim that he or she is being witch-hunted, as long as he is truly guilty as charged, period!

I know I am repetitive to state again in closing, the fact that nobody can witch-hunt a clean person; and a criminal CAN NEVER be made clean with any hypocritical claim of being witch-hunted. And, yes again, I am ashamed of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of Nigeria. He is a so-called elder statesman who pretends not to understand these facts. He shamelessly declared his support to alleged criminals, quite aware that they are, MOST LIKELY, guilty as charged, meeeeeeeen!!!
