WHAT IS SO GOOD ABOUT THE FRIDAY PRECEDING EASTER SUNDAY, WHICH CHRISTIANS CALL “GOOD FRIDAY”?

April 3, 2026)

Greetings of this 3rd day of April 2026, which is 2 days before the Easter Sunday of the Christian religion. I am Harry Agina.

I am a christian myself, so this is a special day for me, just like it is for the other 2.4 to 2.6 billion population of Christians around the world. My difference is that, unlike those other 2.6 billion Christians, I don’t go to church every Sunday because I disagree with the ways that many church-going Christians behave in churches these days.

Note, by the way, that I have carefully avoided the use of the phrase or term, “Good Friday” so far. Umm huh! It is deliberate because this is a kind of philosophically ironic, or ironically philosophical joke about that term, “Good Friday.”

This is a day that Christians around the world felicitate with families and friends with the common greeting, “Happy Good Friday,” and such like. I try to stay away from that “Good Friday” felicitation for a reason. Now, here comes my philosophically ironical or ironically philosophical reason, which would most likely make you call me a crazy dude. But if you ask me, or even as you ain’t asking me yet, I still tell ya: Nope, I ain’t crazy at all.

If you insist to use that ‘C’ word, then, let’s say this is just my CRAZY way to MOURN our Lord Jesus for all the torture, suffering, and death that he went through over two thousand years ago!

I just can’t imagine myself rejoicing and calling this day a “Good Friday,” knowing that Christ was tortured and he was in unimaginable agony for several hours on the cross on a day like this about 2 thousand years ago. Rather that mourn him and call the day bad, Christians choose to rejoice and call it a “Good Friday”, meeeeeeeen!!!

Now, the following link takes you to my vlog (video commentary) a couple of years ago, with a heated debate on this topic between a staunch Catholic Christian and a semi-etheist. Not to forget a little philosophical boy who wonders why the Almighty God does certain things the way He does them. And, oh, there’s also a little entertainment to boot: https://afro-scope.com/2024/03/14/an-ironic-joke-as-we-celebrate-jesus-christ/
