People, please tell me if I am the terrible one here in this commentary. Or am I right to say that Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, the chairman of “Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF)” of northern Nigeria is a TERRIBLE, DANGEROUS, DIVISIVE TRIBALIST?
This commentary and my question above arrise from the newspaper headline with the picture of Alhaji Dalhatu below. He seeks “compensation for bandits” in northern Nigeria. He is a northern Hausa-Fulani man and his position is based on his senseless satanically tribalistic comparison between Hausa-Fulani terrorists of NORTHERN Nigeria and the former Niger Delta militants of SOUTHERN Nigeria.
The issue in my commentary here is the divisive NORTH-SOUTH DICHOTOMY war in Nigeria and the damages therein. My primary keywords include EVIL TRIBALISM and INTER-RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY in Nigeria. This evil destructive ethno-religious sectionalism has been going on since 1914 when Britain selfishly amlagamated her colonial Northern and Southern Protectorates into one country called Nigeria. The two British protectorates were tribally and religiously strange, incompatible bedfellows. Since that forced union, the northern and southern regions have always had tribal and religious incompatibility problems. Furthermore, I must mention that colonial Britain satanically created the evil divisiveness between northern and southern Nigeria for her own self-serving gains. The details of this fact are story for another day.
DISTRUST, HATRED, and BIGOTRY are the right words to use for the relationship between the peoples of northern and southern Nigeria. The north is predominantly Muslim population, and the south is predominantly Christian population. The Hausa-Fulani tribes are dominant in the north, and the Yoruba and Igbo tribes are dominant in the south. Hence, the north-south dichotomy distrust and hatred is both tribal and religious in nature. The hatred is fueled and sustained by the ELITE or ruling class of the Hausa-Fulani tribes, who are defined as OLIGARCHS. They insist that Nigeria must continue to be under their control from one generation to the next. The control syndrome is more prevalent among the Fulani oligarchs. The extremists among them insist that Nigeria belongs to the Fulani race elites. Note that I say FULANI ELITE, because the ordinary Hausa-Fulani people do not benefit from the control, only the oligarchs benefit, while their masses suffer in penury.
The sad destructive thing about the north-south dichotomy on national matters is that northerners tend to support the bad and criminal acts of their brethren. The same goes for southerners. Everything in the country is reduced to “THEM AGAINST US” syndrome. It’s hardly about who is right or who is wrong. This brings me to the matter at hand. The ACF chairman, Alhaji Dalhatu, a northern Hausa-Fulani man, has just displayed himself as one of those destructive tribalistic oligarchs of northern Nigeria. He is senselessly and satanically asking President Bola Tinubu to reward Hausa-Fulani terrorists and bandits with “COMPENSATION” for terrorizing and massacring Nigerians. His mad reason is that some southern Niger Delta militants were compensated in the past.
Dalhatu’s comparison between northern Hausa-Fulani terrorists and southern Niger Delta militants is nothing short of pure tribalistic madness. The southern Niger Delta militants were fighting for their rights to the crude oil in their ancestral land. Under the criminally bastardized federal system of Nigeria, the federal government confiscated the Niger Delta crude oil as the the property of the entire country. Worse, the Niger Delta land is destroyed with oil spills and the owners of the land are not decently compensated. So, Niger Delta militants protested by destroying federal oil drilling installations on their land. Mind you, their operations were limited to the region, and they did not terrorize or kill Nigerians, they only destroyed oil installations. When a great northerner, Musa Yar’adua became president in 2007, he called for peace and compensated the militants with scholarships for education. Yar’adua’s act tells you that all Hausa-Fulani people are not as bad as the terribly tribalistic ACF chairman, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu. It also tells you that I do not negatively stereotype any tribe. There are good and bad people in every tribe. This includes the Hausa-Fulani tribes whose FEW oligarchs are bent on destroying Nigeria with their self-serving Divide-And-Rule tactics.
So, now tell me, how can anybody who is not totally mad compare the evil murderous terrorists in northern Nigeria with the Niger Delta militants? Is it wrong to say that EVIL NORTH-SOUTH DICHOTOMY AND TRIBALISM has driven the old man called Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu almost insane?? Do you see any rational reason for Dalhatu to ask President Tinubu to “compensate” northern badits on the basis that southern militants were compensated in the past???
In other words, is there any basis at all to compare militants who were fighting for their rights with terrorists who have no justification whatsoever????
