Today is said to be Nigeria’s Independence Day, which happened this day in history 66 years ago.
Independence from what, I ask?
Oh, I remember now, Nigerians say they have independence because British colonialism left Nigeria in 1960, right??
But, in reality, are Nigerians truly independent???
Were Nigerians not a gazillion times better under British colonial rule than the evil, corrupt, criminal rule of their own so-called brothers today????
What good is the so-called independence from Britain if over 220 million Nigerians are now SLAVES in the hands of fewer than 5 thousand crooks they call brothers?????
What form of independence do Nigerians have when their current president consistently lies that the economy has improved, contrary to the obvious excruciating suffering and hunger in the country??????
What do Nigerians call independence when the current president who had promised “Renewed Hope” has offered nothing but RENEWED HOPELESSNESS???????
People, it is said that “A fool at 40 remains a fool forever.” Nigeria is now 66 and it is still a bigger fool than when she was 40 years after her so-called independence, meeeeeeeen!!!
So, what form of independence do Nigerians claim they have after 66 years of retrograssion and retardation instead of progressive growth????????
The picture below has a caption from current President Tinubu’s Renewed Hopelessness Independence Day Speech today, October 1, 2026. He claims that his PHANTOM reform that only exists on PAPER has “laid foundation.” In reality, what ALL Nigerians see and feel every day is that Tinubu’s PHANTOM (non-existent) reform has completely destroyed Nigeria.
Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) will commence a strike action tomorrow, the 2nd of October, 2026. Why? Because President Tinubu and his gang have ignored the demand to raise workers’ minimum wage from the present worthless 70,000 naira per month. Today, a Nigerian who gets paid 70,000 naira spends it all on just transportation to and from his or her work place because of unbearable fuel price hike. Rather than reinstate the fuel subsidy that he senselessly and insensitively removed and give succur to Nigerians, he is busy defending the subsidy removal, equally senselessly. Meanwhile, President Tinubu and all the crooks in power are blowing the fuel subsidy money with reckless abandoned.
Sadly, President Tinubu’s Independence Day Speech today, October 1, 2026 was senseless, insenstive, and deceitful. All he did was to beat his own chest to praise himself for his so-called social reform, which has completely destroyed Nigeria. Tinubu’s Independence speech was like a mockery of Nigerians. He mocked over 90 percent of the estimated 220 million Nigerians who are suffering and dying in abject poverty under his rulership of incompetence and corruption, meeeeeeeen!!!
That has been my sincere, objective accessment. In summary of answers to my above questions, I say, NO, NIGERIA IS NOT INDEPENDENT IN ALL PRACTICAL SENSES!!!
It would be great if you give your own accessment without rancor. In fact, it is great if you disagree with me, just do it constructively without the intention to start a war. Let’s hold a civilized debate. Bear in mind that I am not your enemy. The corrupt rulers are our common enemies, and together, we can revolt, reject them, and repair Nigeria for our betterment, meeeeeeeen!!!
