Greetings!
Harry Agina here, with some midweek music entertainment for ya.
African or not, there is no doubt that you know much about the music genre out of Africa called AfroBeat. The late Nigerian legendary father of AfroBeat, Fela Anikulapo Kuti started the journey of making AfroBeat popular in the world outside Africa. Now, contemporary global music stars such as Davido and Whizkid of Nigeria have picked up from where Fela Anikulapo Kuti stopped. They have made AfroBeat a global phenomenon.
But, if you’re not African, you’re probably not so aware of the “Highlife” music genre. The late Osita Osadebe of Nigeria did his best to popularize “Highlife” globally, but his success was not quite as large as Davido and co have done for the AfroBeat genre today.
What I have for you in the following video is “Highlife” music just as the late Osita Osadebe cooked and served it. It is the work of Osadebe’s several mentees out of the Igbo tribe of southeast Nigeria. This link takes you to the fun show, in a jiffy:
