FACTS TO COMPARE BETWEEN NIGERIA AND SOUTH AFRICA IN POLITICAL ELECTIONS:
(1) South Africa’s government allocated 2.3 billion Rands (R2.3 billion) to the country’s Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for the nation’s past 2024 general elections. This translates to 123 million US dollars (U$D 123 million), which is equal to 197 billion Nigerian Naira (N197 billion), at exchange rate of N1,600 to U$D1)
(2) Nigeria’s Budget For 2027 General Elections:
Nigeria’s INEC has a budget of 873.8 billion naira for the coming 2027 general elections. This is almost 5 times (or 689 billion naira) above South Africa’s 2024 general elections budget.
MATTERS ARISING:
(1) Nigeria spends about 5 times what South Africa spends to conduct elections. Yet, much thanks to Nigeria’s CORRUPT Senators, South Africa’s elections are a gazillion times LESS CORRUPT, more free, more fair, and more credible than Nigeria’s elections.
(2) Nigeria’s INEC has allocated 209 billion naira (N209B) to technology for the 2027 general elections. Yet, the commission is quoted to say that it can’t guarantee electronic transmission of voting results in real time. Nigerians believe, or should I say Nigerians KNOW that this automatically means that the 2027 elections are DEFINITELY, repeat, definitely going to be rigged as it happened in 2023 PRESIDENTIAL election that put Bola Tinubu in power.
QUESTIONS ARISING:
(1) Why is it that Nigeria spends 5 times more money on elections than South Africa, yet, South Africa’s elections are a gazillion times better than Nigeria’s elections?
Corruption Has Eeten Up Nigerian Rulers, That’s Why!!!
(2) What the hell does INEC plan to do with 209 billion naira that it has allocated to technology if it cannot ensure the MOST IMPORTANT technology required for free, fair, and credible elections??
Again, Corruption Has Eaten Up Nigerian Rulers, That’s Why, meeeeeeeen!!!
