“NIGERIA IS BLEEDING,” SAID NIGERIA SENATE PRESIDENT, GODSWILL AKPABIO
FACT 1: Repeatedly, Nigeria Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced to the world on TV that whatever President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria wants from the National Assembly, he will get.
FACT 2: Akpabio’s pronouncement was ILLEGAL because the constitutional mandate of Nigeria’s National Assembly is to checkmate the excesses of the president (presidency) and the judiciary, on behalf of the people of Nigeria, under what is called “Oversight Functions/Duties” and check-and-ballance.
FACT 3: True to his pronouncement, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has endorsed every single policy of President Tinubu, good, bad, ugly, and destructive, completely disregarding his oversight function for the people of Nigeria!!! This has earned him the title of “Rubber-stamp” Senate President. Unfortunately, through his high-handedness (authoritarianism), Akpabio has been able to INTIMIDATE some of his WEAK colleagues to SUBMIT to his rubber-stamp policy. And he has been able to CONVINCE other COMPROMISED colleagues like him to be WILLINGLY COMPLICIT as rubber-stamp senators. So, WILLINGLY and UNWILLINGLY, ALL NIGERIA SENATORS are now presidential “rubber-stamp” senators.
Furthermore, constitutionally, Nigeria Senate President is the Chairman of both houses (the Senate and the House of Representatives) of the National Assembly. His influence covers both houses. Hence, by extention, the entire current National Assembly of Nigeria is a presidential rubber-stamp who do everything that President Tinubu wants. Unfortunately, most of Tinubu’s policies that the National Assembly endorses have been destructive.
FACT 4: So, yes indeed, as declared by Senate President Akpabio on May 6, 2025, “Nigeria is Bleeding” for sure!!! And, for sure, he has been a major contributor to that flow of blood that he now talks about.
I have said all the above to state, for the umpteenth time, that Senator Akpabio is too irresponsible, too shameless, and too insensitive in his acts and utterances to be Nigeria’s Senate President. This is a man who told Nigerians that he must approve whatever President Tinubu asks for, and he has been doing so. He now turns around and MOCKS us that his IRRESPONSIBLE and ILLEGAL role as a presidential rubber-stamp Senate President is bleeding Nigeria, meeeeeeeen!!!
