Greetings!
I am Harry Agina.
MY COMMENTARY PRELUDE:
I wanno start this commentary with a common global adage, thus: “Show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are.” I would like you to relate this adage to Nigeria President Tinubu’s recent pardoning of massive number of heinous criminals in Nigeria, as long as you don’t say that I have called our president a criminal.
I often say that I am ashamed of too many happenings in my country Nigeria, and I have no qualms about my position on that. I am also very quick to respond to some Nigerians who claim that I sound UNPATRIOTIC when I make such statement. I maintain that such Nigerians are the ones who are TERRIBLY UNPATRIOTIC. Their position is HIGHLY HYPOCRITICAL because they do know that Nigerian rulers are destroying Nigeria, yet they attack critics of the corrupt system. Nothing can be more unpatriotic than their protection of, and support to such rulers who are destroying Nigeria, meeeeeeeen!!!
On the other hand, I, and other critics such as Omoyele Sowore who some hypocritics such as one Cletus George attack for speaking out against our corrupt destructive rulers, are the top patriots of Nigeria. Why? Because we are fighting for the betterment of Nigeria, meeeeeeeen!!!
TODAY’S FOCUS:
As earlier stated, the foregoing was just a prelude to my present commentary, as titled above. Here’s my thematic question of the day: Does Nigeria President Bola Tinubu ever consider what Nigerians and the entire world think of him concerning some of his nonsensical policies? Specifically, did he ever consider what people may think about HIS INTEGRITY when he recently decided to grant presidential pardon to such a massive number of Nigerian criminals, some of whom committed some heinous crimes??
MATTERS ARRISING:
(1) Among the people that Tinubu pardoned are a good number of drug pushers and murderers of innocent Nigerians. Now, do you blame many people of the world, not just Nigerians, who tend to believe that the president is A SYMPATHIZER OF CRIMINALS FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL REASONS? Note that I shy away from naming whatever those personal reasons may be because I am INTELLIGENT TO KNOW WHEN TO BE LEGALLY-CORRECT or to avoid legal consequences. Besides, I don’t have to remind anybody about the never-resolved debate about some US court records of Tinubu between Tinubu’s cabinet and politicians like Atiku Abubakar and Omoyele Sowore.
(2) RACKETEERING IN THE PRESIDENT’S CABINET:
I speak with absolute, confirmed information when I tell you about the kind of racketeering that goes on among the members of the cabinet of Nigerian presidents. This is not about just president Bola Tinubu. It happens with every president of Nigeria. Yes sir, yes ma’am!!! The list of the people who President Tinubu pardoned was compiled by his cabinet members, most likely under the supervision of his Chief of Staff. Guess what, some cabinet members MUST HAVE GOTTEN hundreds of millions of naira from lobbyists to add some of the names of the people who were pardoned by Bola Tinubu. For instance, presidential spokesman, Bayo Ononuga, has been busy nonsensically justifying his master’s act, WHICH SUPPORTS AND ENVOURAGES CRIMINALITY IN NIGERIA. Who knows, Ononuga PROBABLY received huge sums of money to add some of the names on the pardon list. He can’t successfully sue me in court for saying this because this is a postulation, and not an accusation.
In as much as I can’t give you any emperical facts about the possible racketeering in the pardon list, I can inform you, FOR A FACT, that such racketeering is a KNOWN TRADITION IN NIGERIAN PRESIDENTIAL CABINET. How do I know for sure? Well, once upon a visit to Nigeria, I was in some meetings and conversations where such racket happened during the appointment of heads of Nigerian parastatals. Specifically, people, a friend of mine who was seeking the position of the Director General of a government department was asked to pay one hundred and fifty million naira bribe. That’s a fact, meeeeeeeen!!!
In conclusion, here’s my summary of the matters arrising from President Tinubu’s recent nonsensical presidential pardon: Firstly, critics, not necessarily Harry Agina, accuse Tinubu of being an unreasonable sympathizer of Nigerian criminals for some personal reasons. Those who name those personal reasons will hardly come out to say it in public because of legal and other consequences. After all, Omoyele Sowore now has a case in court for calling President Tinubu a criminal. Secondly, President Tinubu himself MAY NOT EVEN BE AWARE OF SOME OF THE NAMES ON THE LIST THAT HE PARDONED. His cabinet racketeers added a bunch of those names on the list to make hundreds, maybe even billions of naira in bribery. You can take this fact to the bank because it is a known tradition of corruption in Nigeria. I have given you first-hand information, because, once upon a time I was there when it happened, meeeeeeeen!!!
