THE NEW MOVEMENTS IN NIGERIA ADC OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTY AND MATTERS ARISING

January 2, 2026
#SaveNigeria

Once again, greetings of the new year, from Harry Agina. I refer to the two pictures with their news headlines below, as I bring up MATTERS ARISING:

(1) HEADLINE 1: Peter Obi has finally defected from Labor Party to African Democratic Congress (ADC) political party. With his ObiDIENT Movement, Peter Obi has become a force to reckon with in Nigeria’s political scene since 2023. This, obviously and justifiably, is one of the reasons he had declared that he will not run in 2027 as anyone’s presidential running mate. Indeed, some outspoken members of the ObiDIENT Movement have declared that Obi MUST NOT run as anyone’s presidential running mate. He runs as presidential candidate, or the movement will abandon him.

(2) HEADLINE 2: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is also an ADC member, even before Peter Obi. He is an elder quite advanced in age, with a long-standing dream to become president of Nigeria before he dies. As seen in headline 2 below, he already declared that he wants to become the ADC flag bearer in the impending 2027 presidential election.

(3) Atiku’s adamant dream to become Nigerian president was a MAJOR FACTOR that contributed to destroy Nigeria’s major opposition party, the PDP. Why? Because he refused to allow PDP presidential ticked to be given to a southern Nigerian aspirant, in consonance with PDP long-standing policy of north-south dichotomy rotational presidency.

EDITORIAL:
(1) POPULARITY: Peter Obi is more likely to win the president’s seat in 2027 due to his ObiDIENT Movement, among other reasons. Hence, if you ask me, or even as you ain’t asking me yet, I still tell ya, Atiku Abubakar should concede ADC presidential ticket to him.

(2) NORTH-SOUTH DICHOTOMY ROTATIONAL FAIRNESS:
I am an American DEMOCRAT in ideology, meaning that I uphold true democratic principles. Hence, I don’t really agree with the UNDEMOCRATIC north-south dichotomy principle of rotating Nigeria president’s seat between northern and southern Nigeria every eight years. I believe that the candidate who is most qualified in INTEGRITY and INTELLIGENCE, from any part of the country, should be president all the time. I don’t care if the most qualified candidates come from the south or from the north ALL THE TIME.

HOWEVER, I do disagree with Atiku Abubakar’s method of abandoning HIS PDP long-standing rotational principle. His method selfishly lacks integrity, and that’s why Nyesom Wike strongly disagreed with him in 2023. And, as much as I dislike Wike, I did/do agree with him in his fight against Atiku. Atiku’s self-serving, zero-integrity method led to the destruction of PDP opposition party to the present day. Now, he has abandon the PDP rhat he destroyed and ran into the new ADC.

ADC WILL MOST LIKELY LOSE TO TINUBU AND APC IN 2027:
Selflessness among the ADC presidential aspirants in the 2027 race will definitely work in favor of the incumbent President Bola Tinubu and his ruling APC party. The only chance that ADC has against Tinubu is if Atiku Abubakar becomes selfless and concede the presidential ticket to Peter Obi. Obi is the man with more likelihood to beat Tinubu due to two reasons:
(A) Across Nigeria, the ObiDIENT Movement is more powerful than whatever  political support that Atiku enjoys.
(B) Many Nigerians from both north and south do still believe that the north-south dichotomy rotational policy should be upheld, at least for now. Going by this policy, the south still has one 4-year term to serve as president before yielding the presidency to the north.

Oh, by the way, finally, do remember that ADC is still VERY LIKELY to lose the 2027 race, no matter who it fields as presidential candidate. Why? The factor of President Tinubu’s “Grab it, snatch it, and run with it,” that’s why!!! The man was able to illegitimately “grab, snatch, and ran” with the votes of Nigerians in the 2023 election when he was not president. Now that he has all the powers of incumbent president, imagine what he will do in 2027 to stay in power.
