Greetings!
Have you ever heard of the great Nigerian adventurer, a world traveler from southwest Nigeria, named Olabisi Ajala? Probably not. At the Afro-Scope Project, we celebrate Africans with great achievements such as Olabisi Ajala.
I am Harry Agina, and this is a very short story about Ajala the traveler. Born in Nigeria in 1934, made a mark in the world with his then unusual globetrotting adventure. He started his adventure in April, 1957 at very young age of 23, when he departed London on a Vespa scooter (motorcycle) across 87 countries — Asia, Africa, and Oceania. That first run took him six years.
Nigerian musicians made music about him. Among the most popular of such tributes was/is by the popular “Juju” music legend, Ebenezer Obey. It’s titled “Ajala.”
