Greetings from Harry Agina and the Afro-Scope team, as we bring you our “African Heroes Hall Of Fame” series on our Afro-Scope website. The series comprises two divisions, namely, heroes on African continent and heroes in Diaspora-Africa, both ancient and modern.
Trust me when I say there’s a lot to enjoy in, and learn from this series. For instance, did you know some of the heroic revolutionary bravery of some African slaves in the Americas from the 15th to the 19th century? For instace, have you heard of the African slave named Chief Joseph Chatoyer in Saint Vincent Island in the Caribbean? And, what do you know about great heroic or legendary achievements of several ancient and modern descendants of African slaves in the Americas and beyond, including Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. of the USA, the prophetic dreamer?
Alright, okay, enough about Diaspora-Africa. Let’s talk about African heroes on the African continent, ancient and modern? And I ask, what do you know about the reign of the legendary Shaka Zulu in the 19th century South Africa? And, what do you know about a more contemporary African, Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso in West Africa? Surely, you may know about some of our subjects in this series. In such cases, the question becomes, how much details do you know?
Now, enough of the questions. Let’s take you to some answers, shall we. We’re gonno start with contemporary Diaspora-African heroes. I’m not gonno let the cat out of the bag about our first hero. What I can do is tell you who holds the bag with the cat, my brilliant colleague, a great word-artist, Asmau Suleiman.
Mind you, the link below takes you to our “Contemporary Diaspora-Africa” division that has just two heroes so far. Be sure to browse to the other three divisions with much more heroes, namely, “Ancient Diaspora-Africa,” “Contemporary Heroes On African Continent,” and “Ancient Heroes On The Continent.” Just click the menu icon when you arrive at the Afro-Scope website, and voila. This “African Heroes Hall Of Fame” series will appear among our other categories. And yes, this is a perpetual series where the tales of new heroes are added regularly to the gallery.
Importantly, please drop your suggestions of names you know who deserve to be reconized. Just give us the name, his or her country, on the African continent, or in Diaspora Africa. Tell us why you think he/she was/is a hero, and we do the rest with the extensive research necessary. Afro-Scope has a duty to celebrate our African heroes. The tales of many of them have achievements that beat the achievements of the overly celebrated heroes of other cultures of the world.
