Greetings!
I am Harry Agina. The following video is a conversation on the current terrible state of telephone services in Nigeria, my country of origin. It comprises a history of telephony in the country from 1958 to the present.

I personally wrote the historical story of the conversation, and also produced the television program. The production happened eight years ago. It may surprise non Nigerians that the poor state of telecommunication services in Nigeria has not improved today from what they were in 2018 when I produced the TV conversation below. In fact, the situation has gone worse, and it is continually further degerating by the day.

I will conclude this introduction with the statement of the reason why the services of Nigerian telecommunication services, particularly telephony, are getting worse, rather than improving. The word is corruption, period! My postulation is that authorities of Nigeria’s Communications regulatory agency–Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)–and members of Nigeria’s National Assembly (NASS) are corrupt and compromised. I will tell you why I allege that this is the reason why the services of telecommunication services are terrible in Nigeria.

Remember that a postulation is the act of using known facts to reach a reasonable conclusion. One fact is that NCC is supposed to ensure that Nigerians receive values for the money they spend on telecommunication services by holding the companies accountable against poor services. Another fact is that NASS has a sworn constitutional oversight duty for Nigerians. The lawmakers’ duty is to ensure that NCC does not fail in its constitutional duty to regulate the telecommunication companies to serve Nigerians well. Many critics, including I, postulate that members of NASS and NCC are bribed by the telecommunication companies in Nigeria to overlook their extortion of Nigerians. Yes, I do insist that it is extortion when Nigerians pay for much for telecommunication services and receive what can be said to be the poorest services in the entire world.

I have given you some blunt facts and radical postulationsthat are not quite contained in the following video conversation. Now, let’s see and hear what is contained in it:
