1) Did you know that every country of the world has one form of subsidy or another to make life easy for its people? Did you know, for instance, that America heavily subsidizes its energy industry of gas/fuel?
2) The above thematic question is to make my key point that anybody who supports the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu is either hypocritical or ignorant about what the word subsidy means in a nation.
3) My last statement leads to my next point. President Bola Tinubu today called the 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ignorant on the matter of fuel subsidy in Nigeria. Atiku condemns Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal in 2023, and Tinubu responded that Atiku is ignorant. I make myself a judge in this fight, and I declare that President Tinubu is the one who is very ignorant. He fails to understand that all sensible and good presidents of the world subsidize critical sectors of their economies to make life easy for their peoples. Corrupt Nigerian rulers like Tinubu subsidize for the rich in support of corruption.
4) FACT: Nigerians support Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal for the wrongest nonsensical reason in the world. They support the removal because of the corruption that marred the subsidy while it lasted. Here’s my no bullshitting question to such Nigerians: Why the hell do we not insist that the people who benefited in the subsidy corruption be sent to prison or even executed if possible, instead of removing the subsidy? Nigerians’ argument is like saying that the world must ban the use of airplanes and other vehicles to travel because there are some flaws in the technologies. When there is a law in any system, sensible people look for the flaws and remove them to fine tune the system. You don’t ban or kill that system because of the flaws; you kill the flaws and continue the beneficial system, people, meeeeeeeen!!!
5) STATE POLICE ARGUMENT: Compare fuel subsidy removal because of corruption to the nonsensical argument of Nigerians who disagree with state police because of abuse by corrupt governors.
