Greetings!
HIGHLIGHTS:
1) President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria removed the country’s fuel subsidy when he ascended the throne in 2023 with the excuse that it was marred by corruption in the system.
2) Nigeria instantly turned into hell for Nigerians the very day that Tinubu ascended the throne and announced his removql of the fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023, as the economy of the country was shattered by the drastic effects of the subsidy removal.
3) Fast forward to August 18, 2026, the day Nigeria’s Electoral Law lifted the ban on electoral campaigning to commence for the nation’s 2027 general elections. The WAR among the political candidates has commenced. Mind you, my use of the word ‘war’ is not frivolity. Yes, in Nigeria, elections are indeed wars. Scores of innocent Nigerians do get killed by evil and desperate election riggers, always!!!
4) The first battle was presidential, between the incumbent President Ahmed Tinubu and one of his major opponents, Atiku Abubakar. Sure enough, the subject matter was Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal. Atike Abubakar fired the shot that, if elected in 2027, he would restore the fuel subsidy that was removed by Presidet Tinubu. It’s a good shot because, to many Nigerians who are in virtual hell caused by the subsidy removal, Atiku’s words are very welcome. In response, President Tinubu called Atiku Abubakar ignorant for planning to restore the subsidy.
