(4) Today’s Case-Study: Nigeria Army Arrest And Alleged Brutalization Of A Social Critic For Exercising His Constitutional Freedom Of Speech
Greetings!
I am Harry Agina, with Mr. No Bullshitting.
I’m gonno start this with the last item in my “Highlights” above because, as a popular saying goes, it is “The reason for this season.” Yap, a couple of days back, a social critic and activist, Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, was arrested by Nigeria Army. Beyond arrest, it is said that he was brutalized by the soldiers who arrested him. That is not surprising. Brutality of citizens in the custody of all the armed forces is a common practice in Nigeria. His offense was distribution of a video released by a Nigerian soldier exposing the terrible state of the welfare of Nigerian soldiers who are going through hell fighting the escalating terrorism in Nigeria. The sample meals of the soldiers shown in the videos are not fit for ordinary dogs to survive on. The meager security funds released by Tinubu’s government are alleged to be embezzled by top military officers while the lower ranked officers are suffering.
The crux of my condemnation of Nigeria Army here is that it acted unconstitutionally and lawlessly in arresting Mr. Chidiebere. The military has no such power in a democracy. According to section 217 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, Nigeria’s military (Army, Navy, Air Force) can only get involved in “Suppressing insurrection TO AID CIVIL AUTHORITIES WHEN REQUESTED BY THE PRESIDENT.” The Army has no power to make up its own excuses and raid the society to arrest any civilian. The Army has the authority to discipline a soldier who releases videos about military issues into the society, but it has no constitutional power to touch a civilian who uses the video under the Free Speech law, period! And, even if there is any reason to charge the civilian for going beyond his constitutional Free Speech rights, it is the duty of Nigeria Police to arrest him under civil law, definitely not Nigeria Army. The Army MUST request the Police to arrest a civilian whenever necessary. Unfortunately, President Bola Tinubu is either too ignorant to understand this section of the Constitution, or he is a lawless president condoning lawlessness by the military boys, meeeeeeeeeeen!!!
Now, compare the deplorable fact about the poor welfare of Nigerian soldiers with another fact of President Tinubu’s mockery of Nigerians who suffer escalating terrorism in Nigeria every day. The same Nigeria Army that fails to feed its soldiers worked with President Bola Tinubu to glorify 744 convicted terrorists in April 2026. The Army and President Tinubu spent billions of naira for the madness that they called rehabilitation of so-called repentant terrorists. The Chief Of Army Staff nonsensically compared and described the terrorists as “Prodigal Sons who must be forgiven as contained in the Christian bible.” They decorated the terrorists in flamboyant ceremonial uniformed garments commonly called “Ashuebi” to celebrate their “reintegration into the society.” And, Tinubu’s government and the Army gifted the terrorists with large funds and other goodies. It was like senseless and insensitive reward to the terrorists for terrorizing and massacring innocent Nigerians, including soldiers. Yet, Nigeria government and the Army refuse to improve the terrible welfare of the soldiers, many of whom are being killed by the terrorists. Those are the same terrorists who are released and rewarded by President Tinubu when they are captured.
Scores of Nigerians have been criticizing the Army for the terrible welfare of the soldiers. The activist who was arrested by the Army on May 2, 2026 was just a scapegoat. Some of the soldiers have appeared on videos to complain that they even buy their military uniforms with their own money out of the misery salaries that they receive. More than once, I have personally condemned the atrocious disparity between the pay packages of officers of Nigeria armed forces and Nigerian so-called lawmakers who I call lootmakers. The salaries of a Nigerian soldier or police officer in a WHOLE YEAR is far less than what a senator grabs as sitting allowance for just a few hours in one single day. Anyway, enough of Justice Crack and the poor welfare of officers of Nigeria Armed Forces. Let’s talk about Nigeria’s demo-crazy that causes the problems.
BEHOLD SAMPLE MEALS OF TWO NIGERIAN SOLDIERS👇👇

If I said it once, I said it a gazillion times that Nigeria is a DEMO-CRAZY cloaked as a DEMOCRACY! Also, if I said it once, I said it a gazillion times that Nigeria was doing much better during its many years of military rule than it is doing today as a DEMO-CRAZY!! Finally, if I said it once, I said it a gazillion times that the inventor of the infamous maxim that “The worst Democracy is better than the best military rule” invented absolute fallacy. I offer no apology to say that whosoever is supporting or promoting that fallacy today is totally bullshitting. If you disagree with my position, it’s your prerogative and I must respect it. However, it’s my own prerogative to insist that the maxim is absolute bullshit! Yes, indeed, Nigeria’s DEMO-CRAZY today is far worse than our past military rule, meeeeeeeen!!!
I DEBUNK THE EXCUSE GIVEN FOR THE FALLACY:
The late Chief Obafemi Awolowo invented the maxim in 1983 that “The worst civilian rule is better than the best military rule.” I respect Pa Awolowo as one of the fathers of the Nigeria nation. However, I wanno debunk the only reason that he put forward to support his belief and the resultant maxim. He believed that with time, a democracy would gradually and eventually get REFINED to become good. For two reasons, this is a HUGE FALLACY in Africa!!! (1) African rulers are unrepentantly heartless, with zero integrity. (2) African followers or citizens lack the revolutionary spirit to force the terribly rulers of Africa to follow the rules of democracy.
If all African politicians of today had integrity and the fear of God like Awolowo and some other politicians of his time, maybe, just maybe, his maxim would make some sense. But no, in the guise of democracy, evil political RULERS of African countries today PROGRESSIVELY degenerate to AUTHORITARIAN or DICTATORIAL monsters by the day. They fail to progressively improve the societies into the refined democracies of Pa Awolowo’s dreamed. Nigeria’s current “4th Republic” democracy is now over 27 years, enough time to have improved substantially in agreement with Pa Awolowo’s dream. Instead, Nigeria is getting worse by the day. It will most likely continue to degenerate forever, and I will tell you why: (1) Nigerian people are not in a hurry to wake up from their docility slumber and revolt to grab their country from their evil rulers. (2) It is on record that some Nigerian rulers VIRTUALLY said that there’s nothing wrong in committing political atrocities today because other people did so in the past. If you challenge some members of today’s ruling APC political party of President Tinubu on bad things that are happening under their government, they are quick to remind you that PDP party did something similar when it was in power. In essence, they are saying that you shouldn’t question their acts because nothing happened to PDP politicians when they committed similar acts in the past.
Specifically, records abound where the man I call “Grandstanding Mafia Boss,” Nyesom Wike, justified his several lawless acts by quoting past lawlessness by other politicians. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wike challenges or denies this fact because he usually seems to be drunk when he makes his comments. However, I would give him several recorded instances. My point here, therefore, is that Nigerian political rulers justify their misrule with past references because they have no intention to change for the better. Mind you, they always promise during electioneering for votes to change things for the better when they get into power. The false promises are never ever fulfilled, and, regrettably, the people still sell their votes to those same terrible rulers during the next round of elections.
Even more disastrous is the fact that elections don’t really count in Nigeria anyway. Election rigging is the order of the day. So, even if the people refuse to sell their votes to the terrible rulers, the rulers have what they call “The structure” to rig the elections to continue forcing themselves on the people. Now, do you see why I am afraid that Nigeria’s current DEMO-CRAZY will hardly ever improve to the DEMOCRACY that Pa Awolowo dreamed of when he created his fallacious maxim that “The worst democracy is better than the best military rule, meeeeeeeen?!!!
